About Juma

Juma Ceramics was founded in 2025 by ceramic artist Caitlin Callies.

The name Juma celebrates the inspiration that Caitlin draws from her two sisters, Julia and Marie.

Working primarily in stoneware, Caitlin creates small-batch, handmade pieces with the intention of elevating everyday pieces that you would find in the typical home. The collection spans functional kitchen and tableware, including dinner sets, utensil holders, graters and squeezers, alongside decorative homeware such as plant pots, candle holders and vases.

Made by hand in a shared studio in West London, our pieces take inspiration from the shapes and colours found in nature. This is reflected in the earthy colour palette that runs throughout the collections.

At the heart of Juma is a desire to elevate the everyday, creating functional objects that bring a sense of character to the home, while remaining enjoyable to look at and use.

About Caitlin

Caitlin Callies is a French-American, London-based ceramic artist working from a shared studio in West London.

After completing her law degree, Caitlin took a four-week introductory throwing course, where she was introduced to a production potter looking for a studio assistant. She began working for him, spending 5–10 hours a week in his studio alongside her corporate career, gaining an insight into both the craft and business of ceramics.

Caitlin continued to develop her own practice through weekly ceramic classes before joining a shared membership studio. With access to a dedicated workspace, she began producing a larger volume of work and eventually started selling her pieces.

Two years into her pottery journey, Caitlin founded Juma Ceramics and gradually transitioned from her corporate career to pursuing ceramics full time.
